Starting this week, parents, grandparents and caretakers of young children are invited to participate in 45-minute, outdoors nature walks and explore Clifton Park’s open spaces, for a 3-hike, program series produced by the Town of Clifton Park Parks & Recreation Department. The first morning hike is set for Wed., March 9, at 9:30 a.m. at Garnsey Park, a town park located off of the north side of NYS Route 146, immediately northeast of the Nott Road intersection.
Each hike will last approximately 45 minutes and will incorporate a nature education theme.
Most of the walks will be “jogging-stroller friendly,” but a child backpack or front carrier is recommended, dependent upon the age of the child participants. Please dress appropriately for trail conditions.
The remaining two hikes in this program series are planned for the following dates and locations, both at 9:30 a.m.:
– Wednesday, April 6, at Veterans Memorial Park, located off of Elks Trail, a road off of MacElroy Road. Meet at the parking lot next to the picnic pavilion.
– Wednesday, May 4, at North Woods Nature Preserve, with the trail head located between 38 & 40 Shadow Wood Way, within the Country Knolls neighborhood. Parking is along Shadow Wood Way.
The program is free, but pre-registration is required. Please kindly call the Parks, Recreation & Community Affairs Department of the Town of Clifton Park at (518) 371-6667.
