Veterans Memorial Park is about 141 acres of meadow habitat, softball fields, and some woodlands and wetlands.  Tributaries to the Cooley Kill traverse the site.  The recently acquired Mooney Carrese Forest is 78 acres immediately southwest and adjoining the park.  The new area offers an undulating hike crossing small watercourses past wetlands and hemlock and pine uplands.  These combined properties are great habitat for turkey, deer, small mammals, and a diversity of birds and amphibians.
