Low Bridge: The Erie Canal in Saratoga County – Presentation

Please join Clifton Park Town Historian John Scherer for a digital slide presentation “Low Bridge: The Erie Canal in Saratoga County” to be held at the Historic Grooms Tavern,on Friday, April 8, at 7 p.m. The show will include images of historic photographs, and highlights of the colorful, local characters who worked on the construction of the canal.
When the Erie Canal was completed in 1825, it was an engineering wonder, and was touted as the eighth wonder of the world. Thirteen miles of the canal was built through southern Saratoga County, along the banks of the Mohawk River.
Historic Grooms Tavern is located at the intersection of Grooms Road and Sugar Hill Road: at 290 Sugar Hill Road, Rexford, NY 12148. The parking lot is accessible from Grooms Road.
