DESCRIPTION:Please SAVE-THE-DATE for a joint event of the Town of Clifton Park Historic Preservation Commission and the Open Space\, Trails & Riverfront Committee slated for the weekend of Saturday\, May 13\, 2017. \nFRIDAY\, MAY 12:  A weekend kick-off event will be the Opening of the Erie Canal Exhibit at the newly restored upstairs of the Historic Grooms Tavern\, and a talk by Town Historian John Scherer on Friday\, May 12\, in the evening\, at Historic Grooms Tavern. Parking will be available at the Grooms Road entrance. Historic Grooms Tavern is located at the intersection of Grooms Road and Sugar Hill Road. \nSATURDAY\, MAY 13:  Activities will include: a guided walking tour of the Vischer Ferry National Historic District within the hamlet of Vischer Ferry; a guided walking tour of the Erie Canal along the towpath within the Vischer Ferry Nature & Historic Preserve. Tour the newly reconstructed Erie Canal Towpath Community Connector trail for a longer\, guided hike! \nFamily oriented activities will be offered throughout the day! \nBring your kayak or canoe\, and launch at Clute’s Dry Dock! \nFood and refreshments will be available at Vischer Ferry General Store\, 357 Riverview Road\, and further west\, at Riverview Orchards\, 660 Riverview Road (the site of the Apple Blossom Festival!). \nPartners include Mohawk Towpath Scenic Byway Coalition and more! \nFor more information\, to volunteer\, to get involved\, please contact the Open Space Coordinator at 518-371-6054.

SUMMARY:Apple Blossom Festival
DESCRIPTION:Join in the fun at Riverview Orchards in the Town of Clifton Park this Saturday\, May 7\, 2016\, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Shenendehowa Rotary in conjunction with the Mohawk Towpath Scenic Byway and Riverview Orchards will be holding their 3nd Annual Apple Blossom Festival. Come and learn about the history of the Mohawk Towpath Scenic Byway and Apple Blossoms. \nThe Apple Blossom Festival will include hayrides\, live music\, face painting\, kite flying\, an obstacle course\, an ice cream eating contest\, giant bubbles\, canal clean sweep\, homemade Mother’s Day craft for kids and lots more fun and entertainment for the whole family. \nA roadside clean-up kicks off the event at 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. \nFrom 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.\, a host of activities will be available including folk dancing\, entertainment\, karaoke\, hay rides\, an ice cream eating contest featuring Stewart’s “Crumbs along the Mohawk” flavor. Giant bubble blowing\, crafts\, fairy gardening\, an obstacle course\, face painting and more will be featured. The event will be held rain or shine. \nMusical performers are: Matt Evans\, Amy & John Birchler\, and Raymond Anthony. \nAt 4 p.m. please check out a cycling time trial that will be hosted by the Friends of the Mohawk Towpath Scenic Byway\, Inc. \nThe festivities take place at Riverview Orchards\, 660 Riverview Road\, Rexford\, NY 12148\, which is next door to the Town of Clifton Park’s Mohawk Landing Nature Preserve. \nThe event is hosted by the Shenendehowa Rotary\, and Friends of the Mohawk Towpath Scenic Byway\, Inc. \nAdmission is free & open to the public.  For more information please call 371-2174.
