SUMMARY:23nd Annual Clifton Park Trails Day - Guided Bike Ride
DESCRIPTION:The Trails Subcommittee of the Open Space\, Trails & Riverfront Committee is leading an Erie Canal focused bicycle ride on Sunday\, June 4\, 2017 in the southern area of the Town of Clifton Park. This is the 22nd annual\, National Trails Day bike ride held in Clifton Park. The route will cover about 10 to 12 miles\, and be conducted at a casual pace.\nTown Historic John Scherer will provide ride commentary at stops along the way.  The ride helps celebrate the bicentennial of the construction of the Erie Canal\, and the completion of the Towpath Community Connector Trail project that connects the Vischer Ferry Nature & Historic Preserve in Clifton Park\, to a newly created trail section in the Town of Halfmoon. \nMeet up about 12:45 p.m. for a 1 p.m. ride start.  The ride begins and ends at the Historic Grooms Tavern\, located at the intersection of Grooms Road and Sugar Hill Road.  Bike entrance on Sugar Hill Road; car parking is available in a small lot\, off of Grooms Road\, west of the intersection. \nHelmets are required for all ages\, for all riders. DESCRIPTION:Please SAVE-THE-DATE for a joint event of the Town of Clifton Park Historic Preservation Commission and the Open Space\, Trails & Riverfront Committee slated for the weekend of Saturday\, May 13\, 2017. \nFRIDAY\, MAY 12:  A weekend kick-off event will be the Opening of the Erie Canal Exhibit at the newly restored upstairs of the Historic Grooms Tavern\, and a talk by Town Historian John Scherer on Friday\, May 12\, in the evening\, at Historic Grooms Tavern. Parking will be available at the Grooms Road entrance. Historic Grooms Tavern is located at the intersection of Grooms Road and Sugar Hill Road. \nSATURDAY\, MAY 13:  Activities will include: a guided walking tour of the Vischer Ferry National Historic District within the hamlet of Vischer Ferry; a guided walking tour of the Erie Canal along the towpath within the Vischer Ferry Nature & Historic Preserve. SUMMARY:Passport to Nature - Parent & Me Hike at Veterans Park
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a guided hike to one of Clifton Park’s several Letterboxes as part of the Passport to Nature Program.  This hike is slated for Wednesday\, April 5\, at 9:30 a.m.\, at Veterans’ Memorial Park\, off of Elks Trail\, and MacElroy Road\, and is perfect for parents/grandparents/caregivers and their little ones. \nThe theme for this hike is “farmfields growing back to nature.” \nEach participant will receive a Passport to Nature booklet\, and we will fill it out along the hike\, while looking for clues to lead us to the Letterbox!  Once we find the Letterbox together\, each hiker will stamp their Nature Passport and be on their way towards earning a pin from the Town of Clifton Park’s Department of Parks\, Recreation and Community Affairs. \nMeet up at about 9:20 a.m. for a 9:30 a.m. start.  The hike will be approximately one hour. \nThe program is free\, but please pre-register through the Parks Department online registration at https://recs.egov.basgov.com/cliftonpark/User/Login.  For more information call (518) 371-6667. \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Awesome Autumn Bicycle Ride in Jonesville
DESCRIPTION:The Town of Clifton Park’s Trails Subcommittee\, part of the Open Space\, Trails & Riverfront Committee\, with the Town of Clifton Park\, is sponsoring a guided bicycle ride on Sunday afternoon\, October 9\, from 1 p.m. to about 4 p.m. \nMeet up at about 12:45 p.m. at the Jonesville Fire Station\, 953 Main Street\, Clifton Park\, NY 12065.  Ride will start at 1 p.m. \nHelmets are required for every participant. \nPlease join this group ride and acquaint yourself with the town-wide trail network being developed throughout town. Group leaders will guide participants along the route\, and stop periodically to discuss various points of interest along the way. The 10- to 15-mile ride will cover key northern Clifton Park bicycle trails and scenic autumn landscapes. \nEveryone is welcome. Light refreshments will be served.
