DESCRIPTION:Calling all novice to experienced birders!  The Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) is a free\, fun\, and easy event that engages bird watchers of all ages in counting birds to create a real-time snapshot of bird populations. Participants are asked to count birds for as little as 15 minutes (or as long as they wish) on one or more days of the four-day event and report their sightings online at birdcount.org. Anyone can take part in the Great Backyard Bird Count\, from beginning bird watchers to experts\, and you can participate from your backyard\, or anywhere in the world. \nThe 20th annual GBBC will be held Friday\, February 17\, through Monday\, February 20\, 2017. DESCRIPTION:All are invited and welcome to attend a public informational meeting about planning for recreational access enhancements focused on the Vischer Ferry Nature & Historic Preserve\, in the Town of Clifton Park. The meeting is set for Thursday\, December 1\, 2016 at 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Clifton Park Town Hall\, located at the intersection of Clifton Park Center Road and Vischer Ferry Road.  Consultants from Barton & Loguidice will lead the meeting\, joined by town officials and the Mohawk Towpath Scenic Byways Coalition. \nThe town in conjunction with the Mohawk Towpath Scenic Byway Coalition has been awarded multiple sources of outside assistance\, including state funding through the Hudson River Valley Greenway and New York State Canal Corporation and in addition\, federal funding through the National Scenic Byways – Federal Highway Administration\, and to date\, volunteer in-kind services by the Friends of the Mohawk Towpath. The combined funding is being utilized with local support\, to conduct planning\, design and construction of public access enhancements focused primarily at Clute’s Dry Dock vicinity and the Ferry Drive Gateway entrances into the Vischer Ferry Nature & Historic Preserve. \nPublic comments will also be accepted in writing through Dec. 30. \nFor more information please call (518) 371-6054. \n

DESCRIPTION:The Town of Clifton Park’s Trails Subcommittee\, part of the Open Space\, Trails & Riverfront Committee\, with the Town of Clifton Park\, is sponsoring a guided bicycle ride on Sunday afternoon\, October 9\, from 1 p.m. to about 4 p.m. \nMeet up at about 12:45 p.m. at the Jonesville Fire Station\, 953 Main Street\, Clifton Park\, NY 12065.  Ride will start at 1 p.m. \nHelmets are required for every participant. \nPlease join this group ride and acquaint yourself with the town-wide trail network being developed throughout town. Group leaders will guide participants along the route\, and stop periodically to discuss various points of interest along the way. The 10- to 15-mile ride will cover key northern Clifton Park bicycle trails and scenic autumn landscapes. \nEveryone is welcome. Light refreshments will be served. DESCRIPTION:A “Book Walk & Talk” event will be held Thursday\, August 4\, 2016\, starting at 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.\, at Veterans Memorial Park\, off of Elks Trail (road)\, off of MacElroy Road\, in northern Clifton Park.  This literary nature walk activity is presented by the Clifton Park – Halfmoon Library — out in the parks! \nArrive at 7 p.m. for a daylight walk\, or at 8 p.m. for a twilight walk.
